The inter-relationship between cellular calcium and cAMP in the regulation of amylase secretion in dispersed rat parotid cells was evaluated. -adrenergic stimulation augmented β-adrenergic receptor-mediated amylase release. Cellular calcium depletion was unable to completely block amylase secretion.
