Thermal shock testing of opaque porcelain-body porcelain discs and body porcelain discs was performed on three porcelain products. Significant differences exist between the mean failure temperature differentials, T, for the composite opaque-body porcelain discs. The residual tensile stress and the transient tensile stress distribution are more severe for one of the three porcelains tested.
