Dip-slide cultivation for salivary lactobacillus and yeast growths revealed that both stimulated salivary flow rate and pH are related to the presence of yeasts. The occurrence of lactobacilli is related to pH, whereas flow rate influences only the concentration of lactobacilli. The flow rate was lower, and the occurrence of yeasts was higher in females.
