The cartilaginous nasal septa of 28 albino rats were marked with pairs of wire implants. Measurements obtained from cephalometric radiographs taken at 30 and 60 days revealed that the implants invariably separated and did so at a rate that was highly correlated with the growth of the rest of the snout.
