Specification Test for the Solubility and Disintegration of Dental Cements: A Critical Evaluation of Its Meaning
Alan D. Wilson
Laboratory of the Government Chemist, Cornwall House, Stamford Street, London SEI 9NQ, England
The meaning of this test and its relationship to the cement-forming reaction is discussed. Although useful for quality control, it gives an imperfect account of clinical durability. It cannot be used to compare different classes of cement and has little meaning if the products of hydrolysis are insoluble or volatile.
