Lipids were extracted from bovine gingival tissues and examined by thin-layer chromatography and ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy for the presence of prostaglandins. Results indicated that these tissues contained a variety of prostaglandins, including PGE1, PGE2, PGF2, and certain of their metabolites.
