Variations in Dental Calculi Composition and Structure

Chemical and crystallographic analysis of random samples of dental calculi and dentin obtained from 19 patients showed structural identity or close similarity to the "octa-phosphate" hydroxyapatite crystalline pattern. The organic and inorganic content and composition of the dental calculi were similar.
