Planimetric Studies of Mandibles in A/Jax Mice Born With Cortisone-Induced Cleft Palates

Donald M. Schwartz

University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Anand P. Chaudhry

State University of New York, Health Sciences Center, Buffalo, New York

Mouse fetuses with cortisone-induced cleft palates had shorter than normal mandibles when compared with lengths in vehicle-treated or untreated groups. The posterior and anterior heights of the mandibles were significantly less than those in an untreated group but not in a vehicle-treated group.
