Two wks after the implantation of subcutaneous chambers, 12 Balb/c mice were divided into 2 groups receiving either an intramuscular injection of the IL-10 plasmid or the vector. Four days later, all animals were challenged with an intra-chamber injection of P. gingivalis. Two and 24 hrs post-challenge, the chamber exudates were extracted and the levels of IL-10, IL-1β, and TNF measured. Each bar of the graph represents the mean and standard errors from 6 mice.
