The Continuity of Mandibular Form in Mandibulofacial DysostosisCase Western Reserve University, School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 It is reported in studies of patients with Mandibulofacial Dysostosis (Treacher Collins Syndrome, MFD) that the lower border of the mandible exhibits a consistent form. The mandible of a 15-week-old fetus was described demonstrating the distinctive typical broad concave curvature of the lower border of the mandible. It appears that the basic mandibular form in MFD is established in utero, is maintained throughout postnatal growth and development, and is unique in shape.
