Inhibition of Streptococcus mutans by Human Plaque FloraDepartment of Medical Microbiology, Creighton University, School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska 68178
Department of Medical Microbiology, Creighton University, School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska 68178 The ability of human oral bacteria to inhibit Streptococcus mutans was studied under a variety of in vitro conditions using an agar overlay assay. Extensive inherent variability in microbial antagonism by certain organisms was demonstrated. Antagonistic activity was also significantly influenced by changes in the assay conditions.
