Periodontal Disease Among Children with Down's Syndrome and Their SiblingsSchool of Dentistry, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19140, USA The prevalence and severity of periodontal disease were determined by the Periodontal Index of Russell in 212 individuals with Down's syndrome and 124 of their unaffected siblings. Both prevalence and severity of the disease were greatest in the individuals with Down's syndrome whereas the siblings demonstrated an experience not unlike that of the US population of children.
