Observations on Calcium-Induced Stability of Salivary Proteins in a Lipid-Extraction SystemPediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry and School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, California 90024, USA Modification of a lipid extraction method was used to demonstrate the ability of calcium to stabilize salivary proteins in an aqueous solution. Gel electrophoretic patterns showed that slowly migrating components were most affected. Several biologically active factors are implicated to be among those stabilized.
