Inability of Low Levels of Sorbitol and Mannitol to Support Caries Activity in RatsHarvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts 02115, USA Under the conditions of this experimental environment, 5 or 10% sorbitol or mannitol in diets containing 62 or 57% corn starch, respectively, was not capable of supporting caries activity in rats at a more rapid rate than starch.
