Effect of Molybdenum on the Growth and Metabolism of Veillonella parvula and Streptococcus mutansDepartments of Oral Medicine and Bacteriology and Virology, University of Manchester, Manchester, M15 6FA England
Departments of Oral Medicine and Bacteriology and Virology, University of Manchester, Manchester, M15 6FA England Molybdenum inhibited production of active nitrate reductase by Veillonella parvula and increased utilization of L-lactate, but had little effect on cell yield. KNO3 spared consumption of L-lactate. Cell yield of Streptococcus mutans was increased in the presence of molybdenum, but there was no change in L-lactate production or terminal pH.
