Isoelectric Focusing in Polyacrylamide Gel of the Membrane Proteins of Streptococcus mutans and Related StreptococciDepartment of Oral Microbiology and Pedodontic Clinic, Department of Operative Dentistry, Osaka University Dental School, Joan-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan
Department of Oral Microbiology and Pedodontic Clinic, Department of Operative Dentistry, Osaka University Dental School, Joan-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan Cell membranes of cariogenic and related streptococci were studied by isoelectric focusing in polyacrylamide gels containing a detergent and urea. The electrofocusing patterns of membrane proteins were distinctly different. The differences among strains were similar to those found by serological tests and by genetic studies.
