Local Clearance of 131I-4-Iodoantipyrine in Oral Mucosa and Subcutaneous Tissue of Cats

Louis P. Gangarosa

Department of Oral Biology and Pharmacology, School of Medicine and Dentistry, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia 30902, USA

131I-4-iodoantipyrine clearances from injection sites in oral submucosa were at least twice as rapid as clearances in subcutaneous tissue in cats. There was a positive correlation between the rapidity of clearances in the two tissues. Epinephrine, a vasoconstrictor, depressed clearances in both tissues, whereas papaverine, a vasodilator, increased clearances.
