Structural Strength of the Interface Between Bone and Nondegradable Porous Ceramic ImplantsDepartment of Bioengineering, United States Army Institute of Dental Research, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC 20012, USA
Department of Bioengineering, United States Army Institute of Dental Research, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC 20012, USA The strength of the interface between bone and uncoated, collagen-coated, and albumin-coated phosphate-bonded alumina implants was determined. Coating the ceramic had no effect on interface strength. The strength of the interface was significantly less than the strength of the repair tissue in normally healed bone.
