The Failure of Aging or Loss of Teeth to Drastically Alter Mandibular Angle Morphology

Harry Israel

The Fels Research Institute, Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387, USA

This investigation does not support the hypothesis that the angle of the jaw becomes more obtuse with age and loss of dentition. A sample of women was studied radiogrammetrically in a cross-sectional and longitudinal manner. It was demonstrated that the mandibular angle maintains a stable configuration from adulthood to old age regardless of dental status.
