Squamous Carcinoma of the Lip: A Study of the Interface Between Neoplastic Epithelium and the Underlying MesenchymaDepartments of Pathology and Dental Surgery, The Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland
Departments of Pathology and Dental Surgery, The Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland In a study of 50 squamous carcinomas of the lower lip, 25 metastasized and 25 were successfully treated by simple resection. Lack of differentiation, a poor lymphocytic response and, in particular, the formation of a loose, alcian blue and Hale positive fibroblastic stroma were unfavorable prognostic signs.
