Radiation Effects on Oral Epithelium in MiceWalter G. Zoller Memorial Dental Clinic and Department of Pathology, University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois 60637
Walter G. Zoller Memorial Dental Clinic and Department of Pathology, University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois 60637 The effects of radiation on the replacement of mature squamous cells was studied in the dorsal epithelium of the mouse tongue. The findings suggested that the movement of basal cells into the mature population may be due to increased focal pressures in the basal cell layer resulting from the occurrence of mitotic activity in clusters.
