Department of Oral Pathology, College of Dentistry, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa Anaerobic glycolysis in bovine dental pulp was measured manometrically by the bicarbonate method. It is most prominent in dentinogenically active pulp. Although reasonably high initial activity seems possible. the rate of glycolysis declines rapidly under anaerobic conditions. Substrate concentration directly influences the speed of deterioration of the glycolytic rate. It is suggested that continued glycolysis is dependent on aerobic metabolism.
